THE FOUNDER

I'm building Zawji so Swedish Muslims can find nikah without swiping, without games — and with family along for the journey.

I built Zawji because I wanted to find nikah the right way myself.

Founder, Zawji.se · Stockholm

Not a developer by background. A Muslim who taught himself to build — to solve his own problem.

A letter from the founder — Fuaad Nuur

Salam — I'm Fuaad.

If you've ever deleted Muzz in pure frustration, or said no to yet another suggestion from an auntie, you know why Zawji exists.

I'm Somali-Swedish, I live in Stockholm, and I've been there myself: Muzz wanted payment before I could get a reply, the aunties suggested the wrong people, and Instagram DMs were just chaos. The sisters and brothers around me couldn't find a halal way to marry either.

None of it worked.

I'm not really a developer — I sat down and learned, and on I opened Zawji: halal matchmaking, built from Stockholm.

Three things hold with me. Sisters never pay — the brothers carry the cost when a chat opens. Your photos stay hidden until you choose, and your profile is never publicly searchable: only logged-in, reviewed members see it, and your name is never shown. And the wali comes in when you're ready for sittning and nikah — not when someone else decides.

I do everything myself, at least four hours a day: reviewing unclear profiles and answering reports.

The first Zawji couple married on — barely three months after launch.

If you recognized yourself at the start of this letter, you're the person I built Zawji for. And if something feels wrong, you write to me directly.

May Allah make your search easy.

A sister shares

I was skeptical at first. When I was ready, I shared my wali's number in the chat — the brother called him himself. That showed seriousness. The structure let us go straight to sittning, not an app where you swipe and hope.

My story

Why I built Zawji

I'm not a developer by background — I'm a regular Muslim who saw my own circle (sisters and brothers in their 20s and 30s) struggling to find nikah the halal way. Muzz required payment just for replies. Aunties picked the wrong matches. Instagram DMs were chaos. So I taught myself, built, and launched Zawji on April 1, 2026. I built what I was missing myself.

Previously: the remote-work community

Before Zawji I built the Nordic region's largest remote-work community — 21,000 members. That's where I learned what makes a community strong: moderation, clear identity, and that the founder must be inside the problem themselves. I carry that lesson into Zawji.

Built for the ummah — not for venture capital

Zawji is built by a Muslim — for the ummah. No investor owns me. No VC dictates decisions. Every hour I put in is for the sake of Allah, inshaAllah. We prioritize halal principles first, revenue later. If Zawji helps ONE brother or sister find their right one, the entire journey was worth it.

My principles

Wali-friendly, not Tinder

Nikah is the end, not swiping. The platform is built to lead there, not around it.

Muslim-owned, not VC-driven

No investor, no VC, no staff. I built Zawji solo as a Muslim for the ummah.

Safety without reading your chats

Auto-filter blocks private numbers, emails, and photos instantly. New profiles are safety-screened automatically; edge cases I look at myself. I don't read the chats — you can report problems. No bot replies.

Islamic from the ground up

Quran & Sunnah is the frame. Design decisions are tested against that, not against dating apps.

PERSONAL

Questions I get every week

  • Zawji is run by Fuaad Nuur as a Muslim founder with a focus on halal principles. Sisters use everything free; for brothers, Premium unlocks private chat (349 kr/month or 999 kr/year). What we earn goes into running and building the platform.

Help a brother or sister — it becomes sadaqa for you

If you help a brother or sister find their right one here — by sharing the platform, writing a success story, or inviting your mosque — it becomes sadaqa for you, inshaAllah. You don't need to seek nikah yourself to gain from it. Every nikah that happens via Zawji has a chain of helpers behind it. Be a link in the chain.
